Here at Lionweld Kennedy we pride ourselves on the skills and knowledge our apprentices gain during their time with us and providing them with the necessary experience to succeed in their chosen careers. Some of our apprentices move on once they have achieved their qualifications, however many choose to stay and further develop their skills with permanent employment.

Lloyd Hanson began his first apprenticeship with Lionweld Kennedy in 2018 and completed this apprenticeship, Level 3 Design and Draughting, in 2022. Whilst undergoing this apprenticeship Lloyd migrated into a role within our Quality Assurance department and is currently a QAQC Technician. Having enjoyed his apprenticeship and wanting to further both his skills and knowledge, Lloyd has since decided to pursue a second apprenticeship with us, the Level 6 Manufacturing Engineer, which once completed in 2028 will provide him with the qualifications equivalent to a degree.

When being interviewed for National Apprenticeship Week Lloyd stated “I am now undergoing my second apprenticeship with Lionweld Kennedy, and I am very thankful for the support the company has given me on my apprenticeship journey. I have gained invaluable technical knowledge within the steel design and fabrication industry and will hopefully one day use the skills I have gained to work across the world in the engineering sector.”

Throughout his apprenticeships Lloyd has learned, amongst many other things, a thorough understanding of computer modeling, and how to apply these skills to design engineering components and products. This, along with the practical experience and support he receives from the Lionweld team make his apprenticeship experience invaluable to his future career.

When asked what advice he would give to someone considering the apprenticeship career pathway, Lloyd said “I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone considering this route. If you work hard and keep motivated, your skills and knowledge will develop to a high competent level during your apprenticeship.”
